Emma and the Harvest Lesson

Emma was a lively farm girl who loved the wide open fields, the animals, and the fresh air. She had grown up helping her family plant, water, and harvest crops every year. Her favorite time of year was harvest season when the fields turned golden and the air smelled sweet with ripe grain.

One summer, Emma’s city cousin, Lily, came to visit. Lily had never been on a farm before. She loved skyscrapers and busy streets but had never experienced the quiet beauty of the countryside. Emma was excited to show Lily everything, especially the big harvest festival.

Lily watched as Emma and her family worked together, cutting the wheat with the sickles and gathering it into bundles. The sun shone brightly, and the work felt warm and lively.

As the day went on, Lily learned to tie the wheat into neat bundles. Emma showed her how to carry the heavy sheaves carefully so they wouldn’t fall. Lily smiled when she managed to do it all by herself. She was surprised how much she had learned in just a few hours and how good it felt to be part of something important.

That evening, Emma’s family sat around a big fire. They told stories and shared a simple meal of bread and fresh vegetables.
